In today’s interconnected entertainment landscape, the development of compelling intellectual property (IP) has become essential – especially in children’s television, where stories must captivate across platforms to create lasting impact. One standout example is Dynowish, a vibrant IP that began as a children’s book series by Italian author Paola Myriam Visconti, first published by Giunti Editore. What started as a heartfelt literary project has since grown into a full-fledged franchise, including an animated series, and even a striking 3.6-meter statue.

Strategic Partnerships Drive Global Reach

This transformation has been driven by strategic international collaboration. Paola Myriam partnered with UAE-based TwelveP Animation to reimagine Dynowish as a global TV property. Its introduction at MIPJUNIOR and MIPCOM CANNES last year marked a key milestone in its global journey, opening the door to new markets and creative opportunities.

From a story rooted in dreams to a multi-platform universe, Dynowish offers a case study in how vision, partnership, and purpose can bring a singular creative world to life on the global stage.

Maintaining Core Message Through Transmedia Storytelling

From the very beginning, the transformative power of dreams has been at the heart of Dynowish. When Paola Myriam first began writing the books, her goal wasn’t franchising, but rather “conveying a heartfelt message of resilience and self-belief to children and adults.” The transition to an animated series was a natural evolution, broadening the audience while preserving the core themes of hope, courage, and creativity. This expansion allowed more people to experience the story’s unique “magic and meaning”.

Transmedia storytelling has been very important in Dynowish‘s growing success. By weaving narratives across books, television, and physical representations like the 3.6-meter statue, the franchise has engaged audiences in multifaceted ways. This reflects a broader industry trend of extending IP across multiple touchpoints to deepen emotional connection and maximize engagement.

For Dynowish, the challenge has been to strike the right balance between creative storytelling and commercial viability – always with “the story coming first.” Its guiding principles – resilience, creativity, and the transformative power of dreams – remain consistent across every format. Maintaining continuity in characters, their emotional journeys, and the IP’s signature blend of humor and fantasy has been crucial. As Paola Myriam puts it, “The heart of Dynowish is in its emotional depth and its unique mix of humor and fantasy.”

The Role of International Collaboration in Consistency

Achieving this consistency required collaboration with partners who deeply understood the IP’s vision. The partnership with TwelveP Animation, which implemented a 360-degree approach to distribution, played a pivotal role. Their expertise allowed the IP to expand into key international markets like the Middle East, India, and China, ensuring a scalable and sustainable model.

TwelveP Animation’s proficiency also extends to creating synergies across various platforms, enhancing brand presence in both physical and digital domains. They have provided invaluable insights into positioning Dynowish as a globally viable IP while preserving its unique identity.

Carving a Niche in a Competitive Global Market

Standing out in the saturated children’s entertainment market is no small feat, but Dynowish has carved out a distinct niche by blending universal themes with unique storytelling, making it both emotionally resonant and accessible through its signature mix of humor and fantasy. Its adaptability across platforms – whether through traditional media or more immersive experiences—further sets it apart.

While adapting the IP came with challenges, particularly in preserving its emotional depth while navigating commercial realities, the franchise has successfully overcome these hurdles by staying true to its creative core. The collaboration with TwelveP Animation has opened new avenues for future game development, toys, theatrical features, festival participation, and even potential theme park experiences – demonstrating the expansive potential of a thoughtfully developed IP.

Beyond Sales: Impact and Future Global Initiatives

For Dynowish, success is not solely measured in ratings or merchandise sales; impact matters most to Paola Myriam. For her, this means “building a loyal, multi-generational fanbase, achieving cultural relevance, and inspiring creativity, resilience, and hope”. The franchise’s broader initiatives, such as the Dynowish Foundation supporting underprivileged children, further highlight its commitment to making a difference. Looking ahead, upcoming ventures include spin-offs with eco-conscious storytelling themes and collaborations with cultural institutions.

Being present at MIPJUNIOR and MIPCOM CANNES last year was already a pivotal moment for Dynowish, offering a chance to introduce this universe to an international audience and connect with potential partners. For this year, Paola Myriam shared: « We now have a complete Bible, a finished teaser, and three full scripts ready. I’m confident that by MIPCOM in October, we’ll be able to share more concrete insights about the next steps of the project and reveal the partners who will be joining us in bringing this vision to life. It’s an exciting phase of development, and we’re looking forward to growing the project together with the right creative and strategic collaborators. »

By seamlessly blending fantasy adventures with intercultural and eco-conscious themes, Dynowish transcends traditional storytelling, inspiring people to dream, connect, and act in ways that make the world a better place. This journey exemplifies the immense potential of IP exploitation when guided by passion, strategy, and a commitment to staying true to one’s message.
